A design table is an Excel spreadsheet. Does the creator of the design table need Excel installed and secondly if this is so does the recipient of a design table driven model need Excel installed?

I don't think you need Excel to have a DT, but you may need it to edit one separate from the SW file. I think SW licenses the Excel function module from MS and includes it with the SW install if it is needed.
The first time I used SW, I had no Excel and the DT's worked fine.
Design tables are can or cannot be excel driven. SWx has a spreadsheet program internal, it is not excel. but you need excel to do other tasks. there are other parts of the program that will not run unless you have excel loaded. i am running SWx on a X64 setup that only has what you need to run SWx. we found that we had to have an excel program to run sheet metal gauge tables and other items. iQ
