feature manager covering graphics area

Hey Folks,

With 2004, the feature manager tree propagates to the graphics area of the screen when mating and moving parts. Is there a way of disabling this?

I'm sure that there is a benefit to this, but for the life of me, I can't come up with enough pros to makeup for the inconvenience of Solidworks picking items from the tree over surfaces when trying to mate parts or move them.

Does anyone feel my pain? or shall I go get the cheese and crackers.

I think it's quite convenient, but agree to that it sometimes can be hard to find what I'm looking for. It's still possible though to do it like before....just switch on top from configuration manager to feature manager tree.

Sorry ...was a bit too fast.....should have been property manager, not config.....and the proper way to do it is to split the space between prop manager and feature tree by dragging the upper border downwards

swx gui design people seem to have an intense fondness for moving objects on the screen. Windows and flyouts streaking all over the screen, FM lists autoexpanding for no apparent reason, etc, etc etc.. There is a significant loss of user efficiency because of all the time spent resizing, closing, collapsing, repositioning objects. I would estimate that 15% of all user mouse clicks are wasted on this junk I think it is a marketing thing to make the interface more "interesting" at demo's etc, and it gets worse with every release.

(just a small rant)

Is it possible to disable the flyout for the feature manager design tree?

I have not found a way to do that ....I just keep it minimized if it disturbs me (by clicking on the + on the top line)

what is a bit annoying is the way the flyout moves to the active split screen window-this slows up my dual monitor set up as my mouse now has to run much further..................................................................... ........................... ............................................................................ ............................ ....................------V--V--: (>

actually I would like to send this in as a bug-/enhancement(!) is there anyone who wants this to remain as a moving item?-it also means that only the portion of the list that fits in the length of the split window is shown and you get a scroll bar to play with I would rather have the full fly out next to the PM as per old way- semi transparent if necessary perhaps an option to show the old way?
