IronCAD -> SolidWorks & using FeatureWorks

Apologies if this ends up being posted twice. My ISP is yet to post the content below from the message I sent last night.

Just wondering whether anyone has had experience bringing IronCAD files into SolidWorks and what kind of results they had? I'll probably have an opportunity later this week to try translating a moderately complex assembly, and I'll want to use FeatureWorks to try to recoup parametric flexibility. Is it best to translate out from IronCAD using IGES? Step? ACIS? Does IronCAD translate out Parasolid? Does it work to translate out from the assembly file, or must one individually tranlate out parts?

OK, we'll accept your apology. But don't let it happen again! :-)

By the way, the first one showed up on my system no more than a couple of hours ahead of this one, even though the system says it was sent almost 6 hours earlier.

Good ol' Bellsloth. You can always rely on them to live up to their name.

Sporkman,

We have had the pleasure of having IronCAD for a while and needing to translate files. For the most part we have used parasolid to translate the files and FeatureWorks works relatively well. The parts that we have translated are relatively simple but there also have been no out of the ordinary problems either. I am sure you have done translations from other systems and using SolidWorks/Feature works to get them usable again. You should expect things to go rather smoothly.

Thanks Ken. I note you're using the erstwhile "handle" of one Amigo Paul Kellner. Although he no longer uses it (I think) you might reconsider continuing with it since you might be confused with that gentleman. But of course it's no shame to be confused with him, even if you're prettier than he is (I don't know what you look like, but certainly you're prettier than he is). ;->
