3 to 6 month contract assignment Plainfield, New Jersey Job Title: CAD Designer/Drafter Start: Immediate Our client designs and develops custom telecommunication equipment. We are seeking a CAD designer/draftsperson to help formalize designs and transfer the mechanical drawing documentation to manufacturing. The position is Design and Drafting support for the R&D team. The position will involve working closely with R&D Engineers and others to develop designs for products and equipment. Time will be largely devoted to mechanical design and drafting activities, with support of pilot line and testing functions. There will be interaction with other departments, as well as with suppliers. Successful candidate creates drawings to assist engineers in developing product designs. Develops preliminary sketches or schematics, layout, detail, and assembly drawings. May help design prototypes or modifications to existing product or equipment. This position interfaces with vendors and suppliers, and operates with minimal supervision. Working knowledge of SolidWorks is required - expertise is a plus. Experience with telecommunications optical transmission systems is a plus. Good mechanical design knowledge and mechanical aptitude. Ability to translate conceptual mechanical designs into fully documented drawings and specs. Minimum of 3-5 years designer/drafting experience in an engineering organization. Able to work in a fast pace environment and ability to change priorities and direction quickly. Sounds like fun - but then most machine design jobs sound like fun to me. Guess I can't justify moving from KC.
