Nasty problem with offset surfaces

I don't quite know how to categorize this one. It has to do with the Offset surface property manager, a split feature manager pane and a reference to a part with a large imported solid.

Here is how I get the problem to present itself. I edit feature on an offset surface command that is very early in the feature tree. Doing so causes the body for the imported solid to become hidden and the second body which is after the offset surface to become suppressed. I now split the feature manager so I can get at the now hidden solid in order to make it visible. In attempting to RMB the solid several bad things happen. The entire windows interface locks up. The mouse still moves, but cannot select anything. CTRL ALT DEL will bring up the usual dialog. Choosing TaskManager, however doesn't function and shutdown doesn't work either. This means a hard reset is necessary to get out of the situation. On some occasions the attempted RMB on the solid will bring up a menu that extends down to the bottom of the screen with a single entry repeated over and over again.

This problem has occured on two different machines, a Dell and an AMD system, both with XP Pro. On has a Wildcat and the other an NVidia graphics card. It may be file specific, but I was wondering if anyone else has seen this kind of lockup?
