No edge weld symbol in SolidWorks?

I dont see a edge weld symbol listed in SolidWorks. Does SolidWorks use a different name for this type of weld?

ANSI has a Flange Edge & Flange Corner. You may want to take a look at Square (Butt).

Flange Edge isnt correct, since I need 3 pieces of flat sheetmetal to be welded together on the edge. Any ideas?

I figured as much. I already submitted my idea. Use Square (Butt), although not butted in the true sense, it will work.

good luck.

Seam weld?

Seam weld is only for welding the seam. An edge weld will weld the seam, plus the rest of the material around it. Think of taking (2) pieces of 1/4" sheetmetal pieces, the same size, and sandwich them together. A seam weld will weld just the seam between them. An edge weld will form a weld bead covering both edges of the sheetmetal plus the seam.

Why not just draw a picture (worth a thousand words).

A simple note will also work.

For 2 edges .059" thk, I use a square symbol with .118" bead width and convex finish (grind or no grind). Works perfectly.

For 3 edges (.059") you could still do the same thing. Use a square symbol with .177" bead width and convex finish (grind or no grind). Take tip of symbol and center on middle piece (arrow changes to a dot).
