Project costing

Well I dont know how you record time spent on a project, but I just installed free time tracking software called ActiTime which you can set up and then log in through your internet browser....it's not automatic entry, but it would manage adding up all the hours and creating a report - provind people fill it in of course.....

Initially, we didn't plan to release catico in english this very now, but as we have had a lot of requests, you will find Catico in English as well as the site translated to english(

I use TimeBox to track my time. SW doesn't track time and it would be hard to do so. From what I have seen with past employers is that they just want some kind of rough estimate, not a cpu cycle by cpu cycle breakdown. And since the time recorded by SWx may not include all that you are doing on a project (for example doing a quick side sketch or a calculation) one would think that the time recorded by SWx would be a lower limit on the actual time spent.

We are very aware of the problems that might arise when tracking software usage. However, we have solved those problems in several ways.

First of all, Catico tracks the specific files along with the specific application usage. We also have a "grace timer" that allow you to do "normal" everyday work things like checking a reference manual, or talk to a colleague, and still track your time for a set period of inactivity.

One of the biggest problem in almost any project is the lack of knowledge about how much time you spend on different parts of the project.

You know the feeling when you get "that flow" and might sit several hours, and it feels like minutes? As well as the opposite?
