Re: Notebook of choice

Hello Erika-

I recommend the Dell M70. Mine is about 6 months old and performs very well.

The default video card is very good. I recently upgraded to 2MB RAM and just ordered a docking station and a second hard drive module. I wish I would have ordered a faster CPU.

Well, it depends mainly on the complexity of the assemblies which you are woking with. For example in our office we use a pair of HP NX6125 notebooks (AMD Turion

2GHz CPU, 1024GB RAM, ATI RadeonX200 graphic chip with 128MB shared memory, 15" 1400x1050 display) and they're just perfect for our needs, but our assemblies rarely reach more than 60 parts.

On a practical note, given the introduction of Intel's next generation Celeron/Yonah Mobile chips a few days back, every manufacturer is going to be discounting the likes of the M70 prior to or simulataneous with the introduction of the newer (& supposedly quite faster and more energy efficient) models.
