Works fine here.

Works fine here - sp1.1

weird.
I just restarted in case that was the problem. opened the same part - a rectangle extruded in one direction. double click on the FM extrude - no joy.
then I made a new part, rectangle sketch, extrude. double click on the part (not FM) showed the extrude dimension. then I tried the FM - no joy. Then I tried the part again, and no joy! so it seems flakey at best.
Ideas? have you tried several parts, times?
I just tried it on a few parts and both ways work
Double clicking on the feature on the model and also the feature in the feature tree. Either way brings up the dimensions which can then be clicked and edited. Sorry I have no suggestions.
But sounds as if it is not just the file corrupted if it does not work on new files, so a re-install or you could try the new roll back feature if you dare .
I presume that all the usual charms and good luck omens were elicited before you loaded sp1.1. - Such as turning off virus and firewall plus exposing yourself to the general public - , counting the bytes in the download while examining fresh sheep entrails - if the liver has any spots, or lacerations consult your VAR immediately.
Sorry to be of no real comfort or help.

mmmmmm maybe. no.
yes yes and I exposed myself...
OH NO!!! I only did the mystical dance of misfortune!!!
:-)
Maybe I will try the rollback. This will annoy the marbles out of me if I leave it.
Thanks for the feadback Daniel
Yes, this is weird. I installed SP01.1 just yesterday and experienced the exact same lack of dynamic highlighting.
I was about to revert to the previous service pack (SP0.1) when I thought to check the System Options settings under "Display/Selection".
It turns out that my previous setting with "Dynamic highlight from graphics view" turned ON had apparently been switched to OFF by the installation of SP01.1
I can't tell you how often I have wished that SolidWorks would simply adopt my pre-existing settings, especially when a major version UPGRADE is installed. (Why, for example, is it assumed that I want to use dirty dishwater grey as the color for my drawing sheets? There are many other forced defaults that I don't care for.)

Per,
THANK YOU! I had really forgotten that there would even be the option to turn it on or off. I thought that is just one of those "it just works" behaviors. So thank you... I was about to do the un-install! So thanks for saving my evening!
Did you notice other settings that were changed?
Thanks for posting
Daniel
it's possible to save this settings via an excel macro
Per - you have a great memory - I had forgotten that this even existed. One really has to keep ones wits about one when installing new SPs. Its a bit like playing 'twister' with Solidworks Corp , but I'm getting older and less flexible !!

Daniel,
I haven't used SP01.1 long enough to notice many other unexpected changes; however, the lack of Dynamic highlights was also making entity selection for the creation of sketch relations an arduous task. I'd cursor select a line's endpoint, for example, and then NOT see it displayed grapically. Simply trying to make the mid-point of a line coincident to the viewport's origin was unnecessarily awkward and uncertain without the highlights!
The display of the Reference Triad (X,Y,Z axes) in the lower left of the view port was also turned off without my "authorization".
The list may grow...

Per - What annoys me most is the pure random nature of it all. My settings have not been changed, but yours were . Why ? For SP2, if it arrives before sw2006 ;-) - it may be my turn !!

Jonathan,
Could it be that you applied the service pack under Windows XP? I am running Windows 2000 Pro.
Could it be that you applied SP01.1 as a single patch instead of doing it incrementally, as I did, by going from 0.0 to 0.1 to 01.1?
Do you have 2005 installed alongside 2004 as I do?
I assume (based upon your UK email address) that you applied the English language version, as I did, but who knows what happens with German, Chinese, etc., etc.
Ah, yes the variables. I'm glad you were immune...

I did the 0.0 -0.1 the last time .
No sw2004 - it went with my last hard disk !!

Just lucky I think - and I always wear my luck pants ( on my head for best effect) when doing these updates.

Think about this. Here is what the help says about this. Dynamic highlight from graphics view. Model faces, edges, and vertices are highlighted when you move the pointer over a sketch, model, or drawing.
Ok, so where is the connection to the dimensions popping up and allowing changes? I have verified that it is so in SW2005 SP1.1, but I don't understand why it affects the dimensions.

I agree. Off the top of my head, I cannot imagine why one would not want that set to on always. To me it seems like a basic default, without any need for a setting.
Like buying a car, and sometimes the wheels are optional... when you least expect. :-)

Although, not related to this sp, I can tell you that I've seen this happen with SW off/on for years! It usually happens when working on a part for a long time and somehow the graphic calls to the graphics engine are responding? btw, it's not just my system, I've seen it happen on other systems. Anyhow, the easy fix is to shutdown SW and restart, all is back to normal?
..
btw, I think there was a problem with this and other options being turned off/on in the beta, if I'm not mistaken?
..
Tried to sort this one out.
SW2004 Turn on Dynamic highlight from graphics view (DH) Cursor moving over the edges of a block highlight the edges. Double-click the feature and the dimensions are modifiable.
Turn off DH, edges do not highlight Dims are still available by double-clicking on either the model or the FT
All as you would expect.
SW2005 Turn on Dynamic highlight from graphics view (DH) Cursor moving over the edges of a block highlight the edges. Double-click the feature and the dimensions are modifiable.
Turn off DH, edges do not highlight Dims are NOT available by double-clicking on either the model or the FT Sketch dims ARE available, but only by double-clicking the sketch in the FT
Not quite the way you would expect - I sent this in.

Thanks for testing and posting. I guess it is a bug then.
