Ship in a bottle report

Jun 03, 2004 5 Replies

I got my new Xi Computers machine up and running recently and thought I'd have a go at the Mike's Ship in a bottle, first run was a 32.xx with the Image quality Shaded resolution set to the highest, next I set it to lowest and ran a mid-25 second time.

Then I put a cloud image, via Textures, on the surface of the "water" and was amazed to see it 'flex' with the water also, it ran a 38.xx.

It's an AMD Opteron148, 2gb ram, FX1100, SATA mobo, I'm stoked, it's massively faster on the large assemblies than my old Dell.

I didn't try it on the second monitor(1280x1024@85hz), my first experience with dual monitors - I'm liking it a lot.

Run the SIB at 1024x768 so you can compare with others. Not everyone has that high a resolution. Then run the benchmark following instructions found elsewhere on the newsgroup.

Not bad. The FX53 got down to 18 when first installed, but the mandatory overhead software took a little steam out of it.
