How can this be? I thought Siemens was going to take over the world with Synchtech? What's wrong with God? Why doesn't Banquer just take over? He's clearly the only one with a clue.

For Siemens to layoff this many people (and it is just a rumor for now) is not uncommon for a company that seems to be buying up end to end businesses. They make motors, gearboxes, controllers, electrical (consumer and industrial) and now they are in the CAD business. So this layoff would not necessarily reflect what is going on with CAD.
On the other side of the coin the SW hirings make it look like they are replacing a significant part of their software development team.
This job looks tasty. I wonder how long I would last?
DESCRIPTION: This position will test SolidWorks 2D drawings functionality. You will join the team responsible for maintaining our demanding product quality standards. You will be responsible for interactive testing and reporting/verifying problems with SolidWorks drawings. You will work closely with the application development team to help identify and resolve problems, drawing upon your strong Mechanical Engineering Design skills.
