SW Logic Behind Free E-Drawings for AutoCAD®, Pro/ENGINEER®???

I cannot believe SW would allow its 2 big competitors have access to one of the best tools in SW, E-Drawings. I know for a fact that we have beat competition who was using Pro-E for new projects because we could communicate with E-Drawings to Marketing Staff at customers rather than the good old 2d drawing or a still jpeg. I always looked at E-Drawings as a competitive advantage to using SW over the other packages.

Rocko, SolidWorks Corp probably doesn't have any control over it. It LICENSES the eDrawings technology from the same company making eDrawings for AutoCAD and Pro/Engineer. That company is Geometric Software Solutions.

... To get them hooked on the crack, so they will upgrade to e-drawings pro. Become the standard to unseat PDF.

Sporky,

SolidWorks themselves distribute the AutoCAD Publisher, not Geometric Software (if you download eDrawings from the SolidWorks website, the AutoCAD publisher is bundled in it).

I think SolidWorks can control which applications can have an eDrawings Publisher. After all, they LICENSE the technology, so they would have control over what is done with the techonology. right ? I'm sure no company would license its proprietary technology without having a say in what is done with it.
