Does this work, because when I uncheck it and say ok, it still is
checked if I go back into the properties, what am i missing here?

You have now entered the dark and muddy world of Solidworks colours and
textures. Probably why Solidworks have not ventured there - I dare say they
also cannot see through the opaque programming haze, that surrounds this
functionality !
Just wait till you try and remove a texture from a body in a multibody part,
after that texture has assimilated most other bodies, features or faces.
Then make it stay that way. Maybe it's Borg coded.
