Right now, all I have is grass seed. At least I think it is grass and not caraway seeds. They have been on the ground for the last 14 days now, and there is nothing happening. The only green on the property are weeds.

If you miss winter, move to almost any of the northern states along the Canadian border, or even move to Canada.

Weeds will grow when there is no water or sun or reason for them to exist. At least that has been my experience with them {;^)

It is nice to have seasons. But, here in Halifax, we don't really receive a large amount of snow any more.

Well if you moved to my part of Canada, you would see grass growing pretty good, the snow is long gone, and right now at 10AM its 50F outside. Many of my wife's plants are coming up fine, have been for a while. Washed my van outside yesterday, about the third time this spring.

Everyone in Canada does not live near the arctic circle!

Hi Bob, it's 18° Celsius (64.4° Fahrenheit) here in Halifax.

Not even close {;^)

Actually, I was thinking along the Canadian/US border, not the artic circle. Though, sometimes it seems like Michigan is IN the artic circle.

Frank, When I was a kid my dad had a job in the upper pensula of Michigan that lasted about a year. My mom and I went with him. We lived in a place called Houghton. My dad took me tramping around where a number really neat old railroads had operated. He had a jeep so we got to some out of the way places. Absolutly beautifil country! My mom loved it up there. She was a rock hound and managed to find all sorts of things that interested her. I still have a box full of incredable copper ore and rock specimins that she collected from that general area along with her maps, index and notes. I remember she almost cried when it was time to head out to Cheyenne. I learned to ice skate, went smelt fishing with buckets, went canoeing and saw plenty of deer. I also saw 101 Dalmations for the very first time with my very first girl friend Ann. My father had rented a huge old Mansion with a massive stair case that was great for sliding down the railing and the third floor was my personal recreation area. The only bad thing was that I wasn't old enough to really absorbe the history or appreciated the opertunity to investige the railroads. Much later I re-discovered them in the pages of the Gazette. I have very fond memories of that area and lots of snow. Actually I don't really miss the winter much. And I do like working outside in the yard. Its just that it takes so much time and must be done so other things like working on my trains have to take the back seat. If I could convince my family to leave Texas I would pack it up and move to Costa Rica. There is work for me there and weather is warm. I would however endure the winters with great pleasure if I could live in the Colorado - New Mexico border area. Earning a living up that way would be tough and my wife has no love for mountain country so I have a better chance pitching a tropical spot that she likes. Probably we will stick right here because if we move I don't want to go down the road just a little. But we do have our place in East Texas up for sale, my daughter will be moving out in about a year, and my wife is starting to think that new surroundings might be a good thing as the Dallas sprawl has completely surrounded us. Most of the farms and land around are now sub-divisions and shopping centers or soon will be. The streets are getting jammed with soccer moms in SUV's, people with extremely loud stereos, arrogant teenage horn honkers in BMW's and other such common types. Not that pleasant for a farm boy. I'm sure if we decide to move it will be about the time the TM is up and running with the scenery almost complete. Bruce
