Pen and Pencil Caddy for the desk - MRR theme - any ideas?

I just getting settled into a new desk in a new office, organizing my pens and pencils, and I'd like something other than a mug on the desk to hold them. And I got to thinking - what have I got from the hobby that I can adapt? an old box car? water tower? I model in HO, but ideas using props from any other scale or scratch building welcome.

A great way I figure to promote the hobby all year round.

If you use an HO car you'll need a wooden base and track section and a big screw to hold the car to the base, otherwise the car will be unstable and fall over.

About a dozen years ago, I found a pencil caddy in the form of a locomotive at a dollar store.

Use a log car for your pens and pencils. (Duh!).

A gondola should be good for random small objects: paper clips, staples, push pins, etc.

Maybe a depressed flat car to hold your coffee mug? Flat car for your stapler?

Oh, the cars should be suitable lettered for their 'loads'.
