Walthers has several different Proto 2000 E8/9 engines on sale at this time and I'm considering purchasing one or more AB pairs. Does anyone have any experience with these engines and if so, are there decoders available that are superior to factory installed decoder/sound combination and what such a decoder might cost. I'm thinking that I could purchase several pairs without decoders and install them later in order to spread the cost out and if something superior is available that's factor in what I decide to do. I haven't heard anything except praise for the way the engines perform, but alas, I don't know anyone with a DCC version.
