I just got word that Rivarossi is gone. The doors are closed, the employees terminated and the assets are being liquidated. What will happen to the dies for the Allegheny and the Heisler? The rest of the American prototype stuff just isn't up to todays standards. Who would be willing to buy these outdated dies?

I'd bet MDC or Mehano. Great models (maybe not by today's higher standard) at a probable bargain-basement price.

Where did this word come from? Who are the people giving you this info? As far as Walthers knows they are still in business.

Does anyone know Italian and can go check "Corriere della Serra"? Surely the Roman papers would have something on it. Maybe. I can maybe check, but I never learned Italian. I could probably puzzle out the general meaning of it if there is an article.

For those who claimed Walthers wer unaware of any problems at Rivarrossi this is the latest news from the UK mremag.
The latest news we have is that, despite earlier rumours that British models were once again in production in the Lima factory, the Lima group is now up for sale. On 12th July the Receiver moved in and the entire work force were given notice. Last Monday staff were let back into the factory again to complete work that was in progress before closure. It is understood that the models being finished off are from the Rivarossi range and are destined for America. It is thought that Walthers, the American importers of Rivarossi, put up the money to have their outstanding order completed. The above information has come from a very reliable source within the industry.
No doubt the Receiver is waiting to see what offers he receives. It is thought likely that a home will be found for Rivarossi but it could be the end of the road for the other parts of the group. These include Lima itself, the former German company Arnold and the former French Jouef. Last year both Bachmann Europe plc and Hornby Hobbies were offered the tooling of Lima?s UK range and both turned it down.
