Model railroad enthusiasts from the Wilmington Railroad Museum will attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest model train Saturday at the Wilmington Convention Center.

The current record, held by Miniatur Wunderland of Hamburg, Germany, is 892 feet, 3 inches in HO scale. The Railroad Museum plans to create an HO scale train 920 feet long, which would be more than 15 miles long in the real world.

The model train will have 34 locomotives and about 1,700 cars.
