Further Marconi-Stanley

This interesting little engine is coming together now. I've decided to direct drive one of my small air ministry compressors (as fitted to the rear of the B bank camshaft on Merlins, but used in other applications too) and yesterday evening made up a half inch square section tubular steel frame to support the engine and compressor. It all went surprisingly well and only took a couple of hours to complete.

The plan today is to complete the frame, brazing captive studs and nuts into place, drilling mounting holes etc.

The whole thing is refreshingly light and easy to carry and there will not be too many cluttering the place up at events ;o))

Don't know about that Kim, getting a bit common now ;-) What are we up to, about half a doz? Must represent a pretty good survival rate if Ensign application is correct.

It would be good to get some of them out together next year - even just yours and mine would be more than has been together in one place for certainly fifty years, probably a lot longer.

Have to wait 'till I retire, when I might just take up rallying - if that is I'm still capable and the hobby hasn't been legislated out of existence!
