Magneto rewinds

In another place I see a S****torm of argument between someone who has rewound many magnetos and someone who hasn't. I know where my money is :-) BTW the firm in Stroud do (or did a year ago) a rewind for £50 +vat.

Why not give the whole story and not just your view?

You are excellent at picking out bits for your own arguments and 'entertainment', but not so good at giving all the details so that others can decide for themselves.

Also interesting that this is on that same Forum that you have made such a fuss about in the last 24 hours. You seem to enjoy running others down rather a lot, Roland, constructive criticism is one thing, taking the p*ss for your own amusement is another.

I have never claimed to be an expert at magneto rewinding, but the attributes required were not as stated by the other person involved.

Let those who want read it and reach their own conclusion. When I posted last night that thread contained several gross inaccuracies, uncorrected by pontification. Rather than taking anything I was merely providing a counter-blast to near-meaningless statistics used to blow a trumpet. The stats advance your own selective view though naturally your view differs. On the subject of selectivity why do you always point folk at your own outline dating pages and never to the more detailed resources noted within SEM. Do you feel yourself to be in competition?

What's with all this ''in another place?'' You sound like those buffoons in parliament talking about the other house or maybe is it some sort of masonic lodge?

I thought SE men didn't do bsollocks?

But yet you where confident enough to estimate a coil rewound being achived in 15 minutes with clearly no understanding of the standard construction procedure of A ht magneto coil ,

Sometimes Peter it may be better that you just say you dont know than argue the toss for the sake of it.

It's apparent that some do it upside-down ;-)

My money magneto-wise is usually with Martin Percy and yes, I have bought an engine and then spent the same on a mag rebuild!

BTW is this 'other place' *the* stationary engine forum referred to in an earlier thread? Unfortunately the link posted by Peter doesn't seem to resolve well on PDA - no trouble with usenet though!

Perhaps My Dell Axim is knocking on a bit or I have something set up wrongly, but when it eventually loaded I just got random chunks of text spread around the screen! Is there a condensed 'mobile' version as there is with hotmail etc?

Having paid a fiver for my first engine and 20 quid for the second, it seems likely that everything I buy will cost more than the engines! We all have differing skills and talents, thus some will be able to save money in areas which others cannot and vice versa. Which is why some of us have friends who all pool their skills for the common good.
