Onan Petrol Generator

Greetings all.

I hope this is the appropriate group to post to...

I have recently acquired an Onan petrol powered generator, Model 48S-6, Generator Data 337, Generator Number 199761. It is a single cylinder, producing 12v at 30A. It appears to be ex-military, and portable to boot - it has a single handle on the cylinder head, but is definitely a two person lift!

To cut to the chase, I would like to know what carburettor should be fitted to this beast, as it had an unknown one grafted on at some point in its past. It runs okay on the current carburettor, but has no choke, and the governor is inoperative.

I've had a search over the Internet and Usenet, but with no luck. Could any of you kind folk shed any light on this beastie? Please?

Cheers,

Hi,

Welcome to the group ;o))

While I know little about Onans, there are several people here that will and I just thought I'd let you know you've come to the right place.

Do you have photos? will be the first question, so ............

Best of luck with it!

Kim Siddorn

Hi Kim.

Thanks for the welcome.

I'll borrow a camera over the next few days and upload some photos. It's an impressively heavy machine for such a compact size, and in very good condition.

Cheers, Chris

Hi Nick.

Thanks for the URL. I've left a post on their message board. Hopefully some-one is familiar with the 48s-6.

Cheers, Chris
