OT: Busy bay today

Gentlemen,

My brothers partners father died recently and they are sorting out his small holding, no engines but several vintage tractors, and I was given the opportunity to see if there was anything of use for me to have. Today I came home with a Tripod lifting hoist rated at 10 cwt which can be easily dismantled so lifting engines onto a trolley etc should no be a problem anymore. Lyn (wife) and I also bought a second hand four wheeled mobility scooter for her to use at rally's and I've had that apart today to sort out a little problem. The motor is 24 vdc with a soft start and two speeds with a variable speed controller, chain drive via a differential. The motor surprised me as its only rated at .55KW, I expected it to be larger than that. On the flat its good for 8 mph.

Well, the horses have a bay colouring, and Donkeys bray, but a busy bay sounds like Sparky running round the field to keep warm! :-))

The motors on the scooter are very low geared, so they can climb gradients etc. We used to do chargers and wiring looms for a company is Sussex, they had two wiper motors and reduction gearboxes, they would take your hand off if you caught it in the gearing.

Tested the scooter today on my drive, I've not had so much fun in ages :-)) I would not be surprised if it could tow my van.
