Re: Are you visiting the US Portland show?

If anyone is going to Portland (the American one) with a view to buying engines

or parts, and is prepared to buy for someone else,

please contact me off group. > >Regards, >Arthur G >

I think we are the only others going from the newsgroup, Arthur, and will look out for any new Way clutch/pulley parts for a Model C Type H engine :-))

As far as engine buying is concerned, any dealers won't advertise the fact on here, and there will be a couple going, no doubt.

Kind regards,

Peter

Thanks, Peter. I'll remember you in my will.

If Jeni finds out about me wanting to buy parts from the States, my will might be enacted sooner than you think!

I've not been to the States and have often thought I'd like to go. The thought of going to a rally with rural American types is a hugely attractive one to me. Enjoy!

What's it worth NOT to tell Jeni.... :-))

We've been to the 'States before and found the people very warm and friendly, and the Brits get special treatment, especially since 911 and the 2nd Gulf War. We are over again next April for the Tulare show in California.

We are bringing back a load of stuff, Tandberg reel-to reel tape recorder, load of Wedgwood china (Rita's) and some other stuff, so our baggage allowance will probably take a pasting. On Virgin we had 73kg each baggage, and are hoping it's the same on Northwest.

Fares are pretty cheap now, we only paid £280 each for California IIRC, so it's worth thinking about it. Motels are pretty cheap, about $50 a night and cars aren't a luxury, you need to have wheels.

If you have nice friends who can put you up and provide transport then it gets even better ....

Kind regards,

Peter
