Hi I want to model (oo or n) the Liss,Hants terminal of the Longmoor Military Railway. Can I get ready to run models of 'Gordon' & the SR trains on the Waterloo-Portsmouth line of the '50s & '60s? I am in western Canada but have some family still in England. TIA

N Gauge SR s/western 1967-69 modelled.

for the mainline aspect of your question:

The SR Multiple Units (VEP CEP BIG CIG MLV etc.) can be modelled by modifying Graham Farish Mk1s and applying Electra Graphics transfers to make very convincing kits. Motorise with greenmax chassis. I have several dummies to make up 8 & 12 car formations. the greenmax/Kato chassis are mor than capable of handling the lot), close couple with either mini-scharfenburgh coupling from tomix or replacement commonwealth bogies from Taylor Precision.

Diesel locos... 08 & 09(modded 08) from Farish, kit built 03 & 24 from Langley, 25, 33, 40(uncommon but not unknown) 47 & 52 from Farish.

Electric Locos... 71, 73 & 74 kits from BH Enterprises (if you can get in touch with them). 73 RTR from Dapol although the running qualities have been suspect (wobbles) and it is modelled on the later version with HI headlight - so you'd need to consider that along with the repaint.

don't do kettles - sorry (apart from my scrap line that sits in the rusty end of the yard and periodically disappears westwards - Barry-bound)
