I can in that case relax, though I do wonder if there is any quotas on models and other items from China ?

Thanks for the clarification, the information I heard came from a chap at a model railway shop I visited at the weekend, I glad he is wrong.

Not yet anyway. How long do you think it will be before they start imposing quotas on everything made in China?

I suppose it's a remote possibility, although as we no longer have any significant UK model manufacturing base there is no real need to protect it.

Ahhh, but it's not a UK decision anymore - this whole 'Bra Wars' kerfuffle is because of EU quotas. So, the question will be, is there a significant model manufacturing base anywhere within the EU that needs protecting ?

Interesting angle, but as Hornby & Bachmann own many of the original European manufacturers and have already shifted production to China, I'd have thought there was very little likelihood of widespread support for such a move.

I suppose we'd basically be looking at Marklin and Fleischmann and very little else, especially with Roco already in difficulty.

Anyway it's such a small market in the overall picture that the EEC wouldn't be interested in getting involved.
