I see from my latest BRM that Gaugemaster are advetising their own brand DCC kit. Has anyone reviewed this anywhere, and is it up to the standard of their Dc controllers ?

I don't think it's not their own, I believe they're buying it in, but not quite sure yet from where. If I had to hazzard a guess I'd suggest it was coming from the USA.

Unfortunately, I'm not a member at this time :-(. In a nutshell, do I stop dreaming of Lenz and start dreaming of Gaugemaster/Prodigy ?

Thank you, so Gaugemaster are going to rebadge MRC (Model Rectifier Corporation) products? Interesting choice, or is it that all the really major players are already tied up?
MRC are a long standing USA controller manufacturer, but one you rarely hear recommended.
John.
Gaugemaster says "PRODIGY ADVANCE is the best DCC package for the UK modeller". They must know their decision is going to be under continuous critical review by the likes of you and me. I know companies do some strange things, but they would have to be completely mad to squander their quality brand perception by tying into something that just didn't deliver.
All they will then need to offer is a chipping service, and away they go.

Pity Gaugemaster's "two years of careful research and consideration" didn't run to removing the Americanisms from the promotional intro!

Well they're hardly likely to claim that it's a load of rubbish are they?
John.
No, of course not, but they could have said "excellent". Once you've put words like "best" into the equation, you've got a real hostage to fortune.
What would happen if someone of consequence, like yourself for instance, were to contact them and ask them point-blank on what criteria they were using the word "best"? Compared to Lenz, for instance.
Because if they couldn't come back with real technical reasons to back up their claim, then it would be just an opinion, and an irresponsible and invalid one at that, and their credibility as a provider of technically excellent solutions would be blown right out of the water.
Go on John, do it, do it....
Cheers, Steve
