GWR B-sets

Nov 13, 2005 7 Replies

Not being an expert on things GW, I was wondering whether anyone makes an accurate 4mm ready-to-run GW B-set to go with the Bachmann 4500/4575 small prairie. I'm thinking of doing a little diorama to remind myself of Devon in the 50/60s. If there are no decent ready to run versions, any recommendations on kits?? (Also any other info on B-sets gratefully received)

Many thanks in anticipation.

I can't speak for its accuracy but Hornby produce a B-set brake coach. It utilises the ex-Airfix, ex-Dapol tooling, and I think they are ok, if a little basic in detail compared with more recent coaching stock offerings.

John.

'5522' Models do a 4mm 'B' (E140/45) set to special order. It was designed for the GW Study Group using original works drawings. If you are interested in a pair of kits contact me off list at snipped-for-privacy@btinternet.com. It is not a beginner's kit however. If you have not built a significant number of etched kits I would not be keen on selling you a set.

If they're not in current production then they have been in very recent production and I don't suppose you'd have much trouble finding a pair. I close coupled two in BR livery a couple of years ago and they didn't look bad behind a Prairie.

I don't know whether we've any stock left, but if you're stuck email after Tuesday and I'll check them out for you.

John.

I have two mint boxed Hornby R4009A BR Suburban B Coach models here and if you are interested we could come to some agreement or I cold put them up on Ebay.

They have price labels attatched at £13.99 so twice that plus the postage would do me!
