Help !!!!

It's the flanged wheels that are important, not the method of propultion. I'm cross at myself for not buying an Eddie the Engine class 66 the other week and now they're all gone.

Same here. It's a bit of an eyesore, hardly worth modelling. I know it's coming when there's a sound like a gearbox crashing/engine stalling in the far distance. It always struggles to make it into Coventry station. Just a couple of years ago we had picturesque Turbostars in Central green and Midland Mainline blue. Also the 66's are now _all_ Freightliner green whereas we used to get at least the occasional EWS red. Lineside and bridge maintenance is now so poor I can see the line closing altogether in the very near future.

Surely you mean East Lancashire, Manchester & Leeds, London & Birmingham, Grand Junction, Liverpool & Manchester, Chester & Holyhead and Lancashire & Carlisle? Or some combination thereof? None of yer new-fangled rubbish!

=2E.. and what's wrong with diesels ?

Would you prefer he wanted a =A3500 Playstation 3 plus games ?

Send him round to mine and our son will be only too happy to let him run a diesel or three :-)

Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole stircase, just take the first step.

There's not a huge roster of Diseasles under the L&Y banner - who knows what the LNWR did?

Quite right, G. Encourage the lad to model what he sees. That's how we old f**ts got started, eh?

If Granddad wants his grandson to develop an interest in Steam, then he should let Grandson play on his GWR layout, and take Grandson to Steam Days, and such.

I do remember the GWR, just. And I'm not a granddad.

Not quite, his experience of trains is only on preserved lines that run both steam and diesel.

Hes already hooked, but trying to branch out - thinks its just the rebel in him. Yep when the B1 is upgraded that will be allowed - well its just an LNER black 5.

Seriously - he has an HST and the stubborn little so and so would not put up with me rubbishing what he wanted even if I was cruel enough to try. I'm looking for more cunning or subtlety thank you.

What about Trevithick's "Catch Me Who Can", the first locomotive intended to haul passengers? It could also come with its own circular track, made from set track, although it would unfortunately break too frequently.
