More Info on Bachmann Dynamis

I've just been advised that there is a new website devoted just to Dynamis at :-

If it does all it claims, Hornby might as well start all over again with their DCC system.

I had this on e-mail this afternoon (twice)....

We apologize for the bad link in the previous mail.

The message should have read:

Bachmann Europe today (28 March 2007) announced that a new website for the Dynamis DCC system has been launched. The new site can be found at

and contains information on the soon to be released system, answers frequently asked questions and provides details of Dynamis stockists. It also explains the different products more fully.

David Haarhaus, Sales & Marketing Manager for Bachmann Europe said today "Dynamis has generated so much interest that we have designed a new stand alone website for this specific product to reflect its international standing within the hobby. We recognise the power of the internet in being able to accurately communicate the many advantages of this wireless system which will provide a giant technological leap forward for Digital Command Control systems".

That does look rather good.

I was lucky to see it at the weekend at the Alexandra Palace show. It looked and felt great. I haven't yet started with DCC and was about to buy a powercab starter set. I'm seriously reconsidering, and having held both controllers I now know which one I want. The dynamis had a good range at the show even under harsh lighting. It's going to be able to use rechargeable betteries too and I was told they're just working on the firmware to allow this. After that it should be ready. Mark.

If I didn't already have a Lenz LZV100 with LH100 handset, it would certainly be a system I'd consider looking at. I saw it at Ally Pally too, and had a chat with the Bachmann reps. It appears it supports RailCom, as do their sound-fitted DCC locos, and their next decoder is supposed to have it too, and for somewhat less than either the Lenz Golds or the Hornby Sapphire. But it certainly looks like RailCom could finally be getting the coverage it needs to start going somewhere...

I'm fortunate in being saddled with a perfectly acceptable but limited Lenz Compact and have to say that the Dynamis may be my preferred upgrade in the DCC stakes - assuming of course that the reality meets the promise.

On careful examination it seems to leave the two new Hornby options dead in the water, both in terms of price and specification but I'd still want to wait for a month or two after release to see how the markets reacts to the actual product.
