Hello Being new to the newsgroup and to railways, I have probably made one of the first of a number of errors regarding couplings!
I have bought a number of individual wagons and sets off ebay and have now discovered groups of them are not compatible.
Some have the standard Arnold Rapido couplings, others have a coupling with
2 way t-shape affair with a large tilting oval locking mechanism. others have quite an old look about them consisting of a complex arrangement of a flat T or H shape with a further arrangement of a small square overlock and movable prongs!
Does anybody now of a website that shows the different historical/current couplings?
How easy is it to change these? Some of the bogies look like they are screwed on to the carriages can these be replaced easily and if so where can replacement bogies with a Arnold Rapido style coupling be sources from?
Some of the others have fixed axles with the coupling mounted in square housing on the end of the wagon, can these be changed easily?
The complex couple is merely on a square tab glued to the base of the wagons
again if so any ideas as to information an suppliers?
Any help or information people are able to supply would be most gratefully received!
Many Thanks Martin
