Demonstrating my usual ignorance of such matters, what please is a "CARWAGGON"? I've heard of a "cargowaggon" but that's not what it said on the sides. It was a long train and all the wagons had the same spelling. Is it just a "cargowaggon" with two letters missing or something that came from Austria? TIA

Sounds like a wagon intended for carrying cars. It probably has such features as drive on ramps (or decks aligned for trackside ramps) and lashing points and chains positioned to suit smaller road vehicles.

Hmm, a 'car (carrying) waggon' from Germany?...

Surely something from a German speaking country would be an "Autowaggon" or even "PKWWaggon" if it was meant to carry what we call cars.

Not at all, the Germans are using an immense number of English (and American) words these days - and often wrongly. Just as the English can't write more than two words of German without misspelling at least one of them, the Germans can't write more than three words of English without getting art least one idiom wrong.
