Do you mean the West Riding. Thats an even bigger area do you want to narrow it down as Both Midland and North Eastern regions would be involved

I guess that means there wasn't a common BR colour scheme applied after nationalisation? Let's say ex-LNWR or ex-Midland. Would the original pre-grouping or "big four" colours have been perpetuated?

There were regional variations - just look at the totem station name signs:-

ER - dark blue NER - tangerine MR - maroon SR - green WR - brown ScR - light blue

Don't assume that those colours were carried forward into the painting of buildings - for instance Normanton (NER) in West Yorkshire had tangerine totems, but I seem to recall that all of the doors at its local station were painted light blue.

Signal boxes were predominantly 'white', whilst the associated box boards (signal box nameplates) would usually follow the nearby station totem colours - so the various boxes at Normanton would have tangerine painted boards with white lettering. I can't for the life of me remember what colour the box doors were painted.

Anyway, Adensfield/Goathland is in North Yorkshire.

Though I believe some/all of the non-studio scenes are now filmed around Otley in the West Riding, as it is easier than using Goathland. Having said that, and ICBW, I think the railway shots are still NYMR and Goathland/Aidensfield/Hogsmeade, but I don't own a haunted fishtank so I've not seen the programme for ages.
