South Shore's monthly 'home' meeting was held at Firle School, East Sussex where member Charlie Fox-Wilson is caretaker. The main attraction was Charlies Broke Brick Mountain which he'd set up in all its splendour.
Charlie has recently gone DCC for this layout. It was nice to see his Shay pulling a short train over the layout. During the evening Nick Halford's successfully installed a chip in Charlies Candy dancer which was then run on the layout.
But that wasn't all. Bevis (who else?) had taken some of his G scale stock along and we were treated to the sight of a CP AB unit pulling half a dozen box cars and a caboose. It certainly made for a great photo when it came up behind the Gandy Dancer!
I have taken photos of these but won't be able to download them for a few days (daughter has managed to get 2 A's and a B in her A levels so we're busy celebrating and making university arrangements), but if you'd like to see some photos of Broke Brick Mountain go start here

Model Railroaders support Gambian Schools Charity
Two members of South Shore Model Railroad club are raising money for charity by exhibiting their layouts at Firle, East Sussex Village Hall on Monday 25 August 2008 starting at 11 a.m. Firle is just off the A27 about 3 miles east of Lewes - just follow the signs for Firle Place.
Charlie Fox-Wilson is exhibiting his large G scale American Mining layout 'Broke Brick Mountain'. At 10 metres by 2 metres in size it is currently the largest layout owned and operated by a member of South Shore Model Railroad Club.
Charlie has persuaded friend and fellow club member Cliff South to exhibit his latest HO scale layout 'The Ashley, Danville and Deanstown' layout. This is the first time that this 1906 based layout has been seen in public.
The Gambia Reality Charity helps to set up and run schools in rural Gambia.
South Shore Model Railroad Club meets from 7 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. on Wednesdays at Sompting Village Hall (except 2nd Wednesday of each month). Full details can be obtained from their web site
