Triang Transcontinental - R7X Set

I was given a train set as a child. It's 51 years old and has followed me around all my life. I know it's not in working order , I think something snapped in the little control box, and as a kid I couldn't repair it. There's a big transformer which I believe is in working order. It's been a standing family joke that I would give it to my son one day. My

13 year old daughter has no inclinations to open the box let alone play with it and it is now time for it to go to somebody who might appreciate it. There is extra track and a bridge. It's in its original, albeit damaged, box. The set is a Triang Transcontinental - RX7. Please can somebody give some idea of what it is worth ? Prices on eBay range up to as much as £ 280 in the current listings, but I do not have any idea of what a fair price is. Replies only to group please as I have a false address on my newsgroup posting so as to avoid spam.

It's worth what someone is prepared to pay, no more, no less and there's not enough information in your posting to really assess its condition so it's anyone's guess.

You're obviously familiar with eBay, so why not stick it on there with some decent pictures and see what it fetches - that's as good a way of finding out its value as any.

John.
