For those who saw my last thread where we had "so" ... now we have "well" ...
- A goods warehouse with two roads in.
- Two general goods sidings each of one road, one by the warehouse and one at the other end of the yard.
- End loading dock with cattle pens down the side on it's own road.
- Coal sidings with two (or three - see below) roads.
- Two private sidings each of two roads (one siding having it's own pointwork past the gate and is an interchange with the NG quarry line), the second one I may make as a single road and have the second road be a third coal road.
- One road for brake vans and yet one more for cripples Added to which ...
- A single road dead end shed (with no turntable!!!) for the branch line engine(s) and the shunting engine working the private sidings.
But ... for all this to work - any time a goods engine has to run around its train it has to do so on the main line ... that is, the train itself can be driven on to one of two loops - depending on which end of the yard the majority of the train is going to and which direction it approached the station from. However once in the loop the engine will have to leave the loop, take a short excursion on to the main line to run around. I know it happened, but just how common was this - late 20s early 30s, LMS.
And just how big can I make my engine shed, the single road sheds I've seen are all for single engines or occasionally two engines. Anyone know of any where you could get a single road shed for a couple of tank engines squeezed in together with a small tender engine?
