Well I've done it again.

TV at the time was AM. The Light Programme, Home Service and Third Network were available in FM but only in mono. The Third Network (later renamed "Radio 3") went stereo in 1967. It was many more years before any popular music would be broadcast in stereo. I remember as late as the 1970's people buying enormous Hirschmann VHF aerials and aiming them at France in order to pick up something popular.

William who? Just how old are these downloads? :o)

If it's any consolation I live less than 30 miles from a transmitter but still have to download programmes in order to see them in 16x9 and RGB colour. Can't get digital reception where I live.

Hague is still around, isn't he? I saw him on a doco about Gerald Scarfe, who's always shown him as very small with a huge chrome-dome. Bremner captures his intonations exactly, and the same for Rowan Williams. And when he puts on the makeup, he looks just like them too! He's probably just as good at some of the others, but I don't know all the originals.

Yes but not as a party leader any more. Bremner did a brilliant impersonation of him and muct have been quite disappointed when he was replaced as Tory leader.

The former leaders of various parties crop up now and then on BBF.

You know Rory's going to do David Blunkett when he rolls up his eyes!

The message from MartinS contains these words:

Shadow Foreign Secretary, or similar title. I'm more than happy to report that I have no idea who the *actual* Foreign Secretary is... They're a really memorable bunch, these pseudo-socialists.
