I t seems lke in the last year all the local dealers have quit selling carbon rods and I can only get them over the internet. What gives, HAs plasma cutters taken their place?
Im concerned because not only do I use them in my hobby welding but also I rent out a couple of old arc lights that use them.

I also use uncoated carbon rods (used to cost 10¢ each) in electrolytic derusting inside tubing, and my source (Pacific Industrial Supply in Seattle) dried up in the last year too. That place moved and no longer carries 'em.

OK, how do you do the electrolytic derusting inside a tube. I ve done carparts before using a battery charger and recently did it with my welder.

Suspend your tube vertically in the washing soda/water solution, with the tube connected to the negative battery charger terminal. Suspend the uncoated carbon rod down the middle of the tube, connected to the positive battery charger terminal. Start the juice.
In other words, just like regular EDR except using a different shaped anode piece.

Have you ever done any electroplating. I would like to be able to do zinc and cadmium.
