you start with a simple AC stick welder, add on a diode box and then you got AC/DC, add on a spoolgun/readywelder and you now got fluxcore MIG, or add a bottle to that and you got MIG. somewhere allong all these addons you could also stick in TIG. adding a carbon arc torch doesnt even need mentioning, does it? :)
so you get an AC stickwelder, and you can end up with MIG/TIG
probably for a lot more than getting separate welders, and probably with poorer results, but possible, right?
The simple AC stick welder is a constant current power supply. Not a problem to go to DC, but it is a problem to turn it into a Fluxcore or MIG. These normally are a constant voltage supply. { Although the Aluminum Association recommends constant current for aluminum MIG ( Because Aluminum MIG is done in spray mode? ).} So not really recommended to try to make a MIG welder from a stick welder.

yeah, and from what i heard will not be needed to get to the goals, was just curious thinking.
you did see my thread about proficiency, right? been burning a couple of 6013's just about every day noodling around with this and that, will probably work on building a driveway leveler for the lawnmower tonight. maybe next week some lawnmower jack stands and eventually work my way up to stuff that will need to handle heavy loads, then i'll be confident that the trailer will be safe ( at 80mph with 2ft potholes)
