Info request on materials

Hello,

I'm new to the craft and am curious if there are any good online references that I can use to gauge price for various steel pipe, bar stock, etc. In addition, is there a good source / reference chart of information on steel pipe sizing? For example, on a 2" x .109 pipe, what's inside diameter, weight per foot, load rating, etc. and will this vary much depending on who made the pipe? I'm located just outside Minneapolis in Western WI, for what it's worth. I think I'm going to call a few fab shops to see if I can buy some of their drops to practice with before I try to make anything I want to keep. Thanks in advance...

Loading thread data ...

It's fairly easy to find ID, OD, wall thickness, weight/foot stuff in books (I look in my "Pocket Ref") but to find load data you'd have to have a steel handbook. I use two, both old. One is the Ryerson Steel Data Book and the other is a US Steel handbook. Books like these have tons of valuable information. I don't actually know of any online source for these data, though.
