torch mate CNC

Does anyone have any input on how the torchmate CNC cutters are> I am looking at one on weds and was looking for any input. This is about 4 years old and is a DOS machine. You use Corel draw to create the files (yuck). Anyhow any help would be great.

Bought a kit to upgrade our old Heath optical eye flame table system two years ago and has been working ok for us. Corel Draw is different to work with but getting along with it. Usually take Acad.dxf files, import to Corel Draw (make sure you check drawing part size after the conversion, some get scaled in the process), export a Corel Draw. plt file; "tweak" the .plt file so that the SuperScribe program will run it (not that hard to do but must be done) and finally, cut away. I am getting the hang of Corel Draw a little for easy stuff and the tweaking required of the .plt file. One thing is that there is no "reverse" on the burn table. If you loose your cut you have to hit the space bar to stop the cutting; restart the torch; hit Enter to continue and you end up with a gap in your cut. Also you can't adjust speed on the fly, only before you start cutting. All in all tho, the system has been working for two years w/no breakdowns. You do need to run in the DOS mode tho, the DOS "window" does not work smoothly. Take a hard look at price/function. Good luck. Tim
