Apr 20, 2005 6 Replies

I was attending a very large radio control show in Toledo, OH over the course of last weekend. And made arrangements with one of the distributers to start carrying the Micro Cam II Video Camera system. We have these units up for sale on our web site.

Each Video unit contains:

1 x Micro Cam II Miniature Color Camera/ 2.4GHz Transmitter
1 x Micro Cam II 2.4GHz Receiver
1 x 9v Battery Snap For Transmitter/Camera
1 x Main Power Adapter (8v For Use With Micro Cam II)
1 x Main Power Adapter (12v For Use With Receiver) RCA Cable Metal Camera Stand Instruction Sheet

Retail price is 99.00, Our Retail Price 89.00

Great for slinging under the wing or near the cockpit for a real live flight video from the pilots seat that you can enjoy over and over.

Just a point here. That "very large radio control show in Toledo, OH " is known as the Toledo show. And anyone who is involved in the R/C community in any way who doesn't know about that show! Simply hasn't been paying attention.

Max Transmission Distance 328ft / 100m

This is right off the spec sheet, does anyone know if it will transmit reliably about 5x farther than stated ??

328 ft is not very far for an RC plane.

Okay- here are some questions

  1. What would be a good design for such an antenna?
  2. Would it be directional? And if so, we would need some type of automatic tracking system to keep the hi-gain pointed at the airplane, which can be adapted from existing designs.
  3. What would be a good design for antennas to give the most directi> Yes with a High gain antenna you can increase the range by a factor of 5-10.

Check out the patch antennas at BlackwidowAV.com I have had great success with it on 2.4ghz. On 900mhz we used a cut down yagi that my father kept pointed at the plane. One advantage of the patch antenna that Bill sells is that it has circular polarization. Doesnt care whether the plane is rightside up, upside down, doing violent rolls, etc.
