Any thoughts and can I charge this with a GWS field charger (capable of charging at 6Amps) ?TIA

That should do it, and £12.95 for an 8 cell 3000 mah NiMh pack seems a good buy. If the GWS charger can deliver 3A to an 8 cell pack, it will provide for a nominal (for NiMh) 1 hr charge cycle. Dump the cheapo Molex connector on the battery and use something that will work decently at 20-30 A, i.e., Deans Ultra, Anderson Powerpole, or 4 mm gold connectors.

Should be OK, but don't ecpect top performance from a 13 quid battery.
Charge at 3A. Personally I'd go for a 7.4v 2s LIPO pack of 3000 or so capacitry..
