Belt starting a helicopter

Sep 15, 2005 1 Replies

Hi there, I've dug a very old RC helicopter out of my parent's loft, it has never been used and I've nearly finished building it. I've got all instructions and engine details, except how to start the thing. It seems to be a belt start, but how exactly do I do this? how do I get enough tork on the belt to turn the crankshaft of the OS Max engine?

any help is much appreciated.

Rembering my 73? Schulter Cobra helio kit from Germany.

Powered by a 71 ST used a belt out the bottom to start.

Used standard Sullivan 12 volt starter and a little hand pressure on the belt always started it.

I do remember that it required a garden tractor/small car battery to power the starter, motorcycle battery would not turn it over.
