Well everybody, here we go again. Sitting just north of West Palm beach. Feels like being a bowling pin. Getting ready to take a hurricane shot again! Got the place all battened down. All the palnes are out of the garage to a safe room, to protect them and so I can work on all the hurricane stuff without destroying them from all the costruction project. Intersting how many skill transfer over to other project. Just have to work in 2x4's instead of balsa, LOL Wish us luck, and the same goes to all of you that have been in the paths of Charlie, Frances ( we were in the Eye!), Ivan and the floods from that one.
Checking back in, on the othert side of the storm. Got the generator tonight, actually can make the computer work, just barely. I've been thru 5 major hurricanes now and this has to have been the roughest winds so far. seemed more angry, roiling. Lot of stuff did go flying, fortunately, not my house. Had it totally battened down. Now slowly cleaning up and starting the repair process. Even though I think I really could use some flying time, I don't think thats going to happen for awhile. Our field is at a county park and there is just so much damage and so much to clean up, I don't see them getting to opening the park anytime soon. It's been closed since Frances. Who knew you could get two huricanes to hit in the same month?..lol
The covering is going to be expensive, lots of new cedar around the windows, roofing shingles and screens around the pool enclosure. Now it's realy not so much a pool enclosure as it is a tree and branch enclosure, including something sucked up in the filter pipe clogging it. I have visions of having to chip up the concrete decking to get to the pipe. I'll let you know. I'm going to try the "vaccum to get a lead string thru a wing trick." Tommorrow I get the strongest wet vac I can find and try to clear it in reverse.
I know it's off topic, but I appreciate being able to vent.
Glad to hear you folks in Florida are hanging in there. Daughter moved down there three years ago and manage to get through it. Sure am glad she listened when I told her that when it comes to mother nature there's no shame in hiding. Ask her if she had, had her fill, and was about ready to come back home. Her reply was hey dad these hurricane's are just like a long winded tornado, If you don't keep your eye on them they'll kick yer butt.
Hope everyone down there is getting through it, You have had your share this year.
