I hope to build the Sig Hog Bipe soon - (awaiting its arrival at the LHS). Engine will be my lonely O.S. .91 four stroke. Any words of wisdom from experienced Hog Bipe builders/flyers?
Thanks!

Nothing too drastic to change or watch for. I have some tips and lots of pictures of them on FUBAR Hill

Most assuredly...
DO NOT use a single servo to drive the ailerons via torque rods, and DO NOT use 2-56 joiners between the top & bottom ailerons, as shown in the plans.
My original HogBipe was set up this way and would flutter the top ailerons at high speed, even though thy had no appreciable gap, no slop, and were sealed. I believe the main problem was the wing joiners were flexing...
I resolved the problem by using dual S-3001 servos, one on each torque rod and carbon fiber arrowshafts as aileron joiner rods. The C/F rods were overkill, but I had them in my stash..
If I was do do it again I'd sidemount the dual S-3001 servos in the lower wing centered on the aileron, and use 4-40 joiner rods. Plenty of strength with a lot less drag than the carbon fiber rods...
I believe Sig now provides a conversion kit for the dual servos, but it's not designed to sidemount the servos. Sidemounting the servos to a door in the bottom of the wing is quick to do, and looks a lot better than having the servo top hanging down outta wing...
PS: You're gonna LOVE this bipe!!!
Cheers,
Hi,
Do you know what your all up weight is with that GMS.76 on it? And what prop are you flying?
Thanks.
"pqt2 trilobyte.net>" I built mine exactly as sig intended except for making a hatch for the
Eight pounds on the button and I didn't add any additional weight to balance it. I'm using an APC 13 x 6. By the way, I did make 2 other modification that I got from FUBAR HILL site and that was to use drilled out
Wow! That's a great site. Thanks!
