Shitmax RC Simulator

I've just bought one of these second hand from our local model shop to try out. Does it definately work on Windows XP?

Have so far downloaded the XPbeta driver for the joystick i/face and installed it. In the controllors section when i try to calibrate Ripmax RC joystick it says "not connected" then for a short time after i plug into the tx it goes OK then not connected again,tx is set to PPM also.

I thought there was a bad connection in the phono type adaptor,it also had a HItec plug adaptor but no Futaba one in the box .I've chopped off the adaptor and put a FUtaba DIN plug on instead, connecting one wire to the can and the other to top left pin looking from behind the connector, with two right hand side pins shorted (same as for other sim leads like CSM) is that correct?

Also tried to download the re-configuration utility and the updated Simulator.exe file for XP but there is a server error.

The program that comes on the CD installs ok but obviously can't talk to my tx until i get the joystick port thing sorted, also do i definately need to update the rcsimulator.exe file for XP?

I'm not familiar with that simulator, but I know XP does not like the old joystick port controllers. I think you have to use a usb controller.

I just updated from Windoze 2000 to XP two days ago. I just now tried G2 simulator and it automatically downloaded a bunch of updates and it runs beautifully. I could be wrong (it's been several months since I've flown the simulator) but it seems much easier to fly the simulator now. May be because I've got several more months of real stick time. I'm going to put some more time in on the simulator now.
