An almost useless, self-serving, piece of shit organization, headed by the biggest Dickheads in the hobby. I only join for the insurance, and to be able to fly at AMA sanctioned fields. A couple of my friends wanted to start up a new club - so far they have left four messages on the AMA answering machine - no responses yet. An answering machine ???
Friends of yours? Who did they call, the American Medical Association. I don't suppose they thought to leave a number. As an expert in all things you certainly could have directed them to the right persons to take care of their request. Out of curiosity what were they looking for? Did they ever think to check out the AMA web site and look at the club charter kit for starters.
Well, if their communication skills are twice what yours is, I wouldn't respond to them, either!
I have yet to do business with any fun organization that answered the phones between 10 pm and 6 am. Why don't you guys try between, say 10 AM and 2PM to insure that your time zone differential is covered? Oh, also the CORRECT number is
1 - 800- I-FLY- AMA in case you are content impaired, that is 1-800-435-9262. Please try not to use the kind of language your native intellect exhibits here with those folks, because they don't deserve you.
If you don't like it, don't join and quit whining about it or join and do something other than whine. It may not be the best organization on the planet but it sure as heck beats you lone wolf wannabes. It will only change if those who are dissatisfied get involved inside the organization. Any moron can criticize outside the organization. It takes brains to change it from the inside. Something you are lacking.

I get tired of all the AMA bashing with no real solutions offered to the problem(s) whined over. Those who can't lead, complain.
Frankly, I don't see A PROBLEM! I have belonged to AMA since 1964 and it has been a wonderful experience for every one of the ensuing 41 years! Perhaps it's because I have gotten involved, volunteered, interacted, joined in, discussed, compromised, etc. You get out what you put in. If all you do is bitch and whine then you'll only end up an angry and dissatisfied individual as Zara and all those of his 'ilk' are.
