Tower 6XM Trainer System

| Is removing the crystal a precaution against accidentally turning on the | slave xmitter or does the trainer cord actually power up both the encoder | AND Rf section of the slave? I'm not happy if the crystal has to be removed | every time you want to buddy box the xmitter. Is this truly be the way | Futaba's buddy system works?

I don't think you have to physically remove the crystal on the buddy box, as long as it's power switch is never turned on.

I suspect that removing it's crystal is done simply as a precaution, `just in case'.

But my experience is based on older Futaba radios, and so I'd hate to be responsible for a plane being crashed because they changed something, so I'd suggest asking Futaba themseves rather than taking my word for it.

Thanks for the input. What you say is probably true. Better safe than sorry is also true but so far email inquiries to Futaba and Tower have gone unanswered. Phone is problematic since you never know if you've reached someone who truly knows. Guess I'd better try, however, before doing something stupid. RCT
