This will MOVE the objects to the new layer, the original poster wanted to COPY the objects. The express tool command "copytolayer" will do it.

Assuming you have the full version of Autocad, this macro will do what you want ... ^C^C_select \_copy;p;;@;@;(sssetfirst nil (ssget "p"));properties;
