Hello,i just had a scond(or 3rd) hand LPKF91s/vs Protomat,it looks in good conditions and at least at power on it moves along the xy axis for it limits

I just can't have a communication between PC and machine,i tried BoardMaster

3.0,4.0 and 5.0, downloaded from LPKF USA site and it looks like that no signal(measuring with digital oscilloscope) coms out from PC,instead the machine sends a short sequence at power on

I'm not shure even about the cable that i builded following

it looks strange that they say "Male 25 Pin " to LKPF,when the LKPF itself has a male 25 pin connector

In xp i 'm warned continously by messages sayng that FIFO must be disabled, eventhough i did it yet

Many thanks for help

Been a while since I took the class up north :-) but I have the software and class notes...... :-)

On machine settings of Board Master - did you press the "UNLOCK" button - this has to happen before initialization.

When you power on the machine does it begin to move and come to settle in the forward exchange position ??

Click the INITIALIZE button and the machine will begin to move around... The init finds all important points - the four limit switches and then come to rest in Exchange or X=0,-Y position.

After it rests - press the OK button.

Martin snipped-for-privacy@consolidated.net Where are you Diego ? - keep me posted.

: Hi, I was searching the internet because I too have just inherited a used LPKF

91s plotter. It was built in 1995 but looks to be in pristine condition. When I turn it on, it zero's in both the x and y direction (steppers work great), and then it moves to the tool exchange position. When I start boardmaster (5.0) it just keeps telling me to turn on the machine, as if it is unable to communicate with the machine. The symptoms sound exacty like what diego was experiencing. I was wondering if you guys ever figured out what the problem was and how to fix it. I have been in contact with LPKF and I have followed their instructions on how to connect to the machine. I have made sure the serial port settings are correct (8N1, hardware flow control, no FIFO buffers, 9600 bps...). I have checked that boardmaster is trying to connect over the right serial port with all the right settings for the 91s. I have opened up the plotter and checked all the fuses (they are fine) and my power LED turns on when I turn on the machine. I dont know what else I can do? Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,
